The association "The new company, City of Cerda" is of recent formation, since it was born officially in 1998, though until that date same promoting partners, lovers of the popular arts and cstoms, has been collecting traditional music, song and dances of our town.

The group has ken part to many different Sicilian and international performances, in this way they have informed the people about he customs and the traditions of our beatiful Sicily.

The new company reproposed through its costumes, the holiday clothing of the Sicilian common peopl in the 8° century, till the Spanish domination which the cerdese cosiety suffered.

Today th folk group is called "I Carrettieri" ,("The Carters"), refering to the old name of Cerda "The new Fondaco" (Storehouse) o "The New Tavern" ("La nuova Taverna") where the travellers used to get something to eat.
